Working with Metadata
The Metadata area provides you with a method for communicating important information about your topic to the assigned contacts. When you create a topic, the Start Date value is updated with the current date and time. While all the other fields are optional, the Start Date is mandatory, but customizable.
To configure the metadata values:
1. Configure Departments.
a. Click the text field to the right of the Departments value to access the departments selection menu.
b. Click the check boxes to the left of one or more departments to associate these values with your topic.
2. Configure the Start and End dates.
- As described above, the Start Date is pre-populated with the topic’s creation date and time. You can alter these values if you need to pre-date or post-date the topic.
- The End Date is not populated with any pre-defined values. Enter a date by which the topic must be completed.
You cannot assign an End Date that is earlier than the Start Date. If you do, the field turns red to let you know that there is an error.
3. Configure Sources
You can use this field to describe where contacts can find source material or additional information that is related to the topic.
a. Click the text field to the right of the Sources value to access the sources selection menu.
b. Click the check boxes to the left of one or more sources to associate these values with your topic.
